UPDATE: Naked body found on Moreleta Park church grounds

"Reaction officers were alerted to the bloody body by a client."

The police have confirmed that a naked body of a man was found in the church yard in Moreleta Park on Monday morning.

Spokesperson Captain Ilse Jones said the police were alerted to the body at 06:00.

She said the body was found in the yard of the East Side community church on Primula Street and Garsfontein Road.

“We can confirm the man was found with stab wounds.”

She said it was believed the cause of death was the stab wounds but an investigation to establish that was ongoing.

The man’s wallet and other valuables seemed to be missing from his car, a silver Toyota Yaris.

Jones said medics certified the man dead.

Bull security firm spokesperson JP Griesel said his reaction officers were alerted to the bloody body by a client.

“Officer Johnston Brown responded to the scene around 06:35,” said Griesel.

Brown said he found the body with only socks on.

“We reacted to a call from the church – which is our client – stating that a man was bleeding outside his car.”

He said around 06:39 when he got to the scene, the man was dead.

“We contacted the police and medics who soon arrived on the scene.”

Griesel said the cause of the death was yet unconfirmed.
