The exhibition donates 20 percent of the proceeds to Cansa.

An arts exhibition Pretoria East that gives some of its returns to a cancer association is gaining massive traction.

Organiser Munnik Marais said they decided to partner with Cansa to raise awareness.

“We invited artists to display their work at the exhibition on an agreement that we would take 20 percent of the proceeds and donate it to Cansa,” said Marais.

“The arts are exhibited here for free.”

Marais said the exhibition, which started in October, was held at the Brooklyn Theatre once a month.

“At the theatre we were able to raise enough money for the association and it has been doing pretty well.”

Even Mrs Charity SA Claire Gardener has attended the exhibition.

Marais stressed the need to provide financial support to Cansa.

“The cancer association does research and it also helps a lot of people suffering from the disease,” said Marais.

“So its very important that we raise money for them so they can continue to make a difference in the lives of the ordinary.”
