No certainty on coalition talks

No confirmation of the the tentative deal regarding a coalition government between the DA and EFF in the Tshwane metro.

Rumours were rife on Monday that a coalition deal had already been struck between the DA and the EFF to govern the Tshwane metro.

But an official announcement on the outcome of coalition talks still had to be made.

Sworn political enemies had been wooing one another since the local government election earlier this month.

The results yielded no clear majority winner in the big metros of Gauteng, leaving the EFF as the kingmaker in Tshwane metro, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni.

It was stated the EFF would issue a statement on Tuesday about coalition talks with the DA and the ANC.

Several news services over the weekend claimed a tentative deal had been struck between the DA and the EFF to take control of the big metros.

Should this be true, it would end the ANC’s domination of the metros in Gauteng and also in Nelson Mandela Bay.

Word was that the DA was planning to inaugurate its mayoral candidate for Tshwane, Solly Msimanga, on Thursday.

This could not be confirmed on Monday by the DA Tshwane chief whip Marietha Aucamp.

Comment from the EFF could also not be obtained.
