Down’s syndrome youth receive public skills training

More than 10 youth from various parts of Pretoria attend public confidence training in Centurion.

Youth with Down’s syndrome learnt various skills to boost their confidence in public at the five-star Leriba Hotel and Spa in Centurion on Friday.

More than 10 young people joined Down’s Syndrome Pretoria representative Tania Collins for a training session accompanied by a wine tasting and cocktail event.

Collins said the training was important to ensure that the youth, referred to as young adults, could proudly interact with the public.

“The training taught the young adults social skills on how to attend public gatherings with confidence,” Collins said.

She believed the young adults who attended the training would no longer avoid interacting with other people.

Representative of the young adults Louis Lingenfelder said he was excited about the event.

The young adults who attended were from various parts of Pretoria.
