Good vibes at the Moreleta Village Market

Families came in their numbers to enjoy the live music, delicious food, stunning arts and craft.

Food, music and art was the order of the day at the Moreleta Village Market on Sunday.

The market was hosted at the iconic The Collection venue in Garsfontein.

Families gathered around to have a Sunday picnic while listening to the alternative rock sound of the local band Monkeys Wedding.

The owner of the Collection, Peter Henry, told Rekord he was inspired by creation of man to build the venue.

“My wife (Leigh) and I started the market in September 2014 as a hobby.  We were very passionate about starting a unique market with man-made old school vintage.  The creation of man inspired us when we started. As a plumber this obviously meant that I had to make the most of the decorations which include the collection of miniature cars.”

Henry said he felt blessed to have built up so much support in a short space of time.

“The events (Moreleta Village Market) take place twice a month, the first Sunday of the month and the last Sunday of the month.

“We are very blessed to have the support. I would like to encourage everyone to take pride in their own work and then success will come.”

Annelien de Jager of Busetsa said the market gave her a chance to display her self-sustainable company which aimed to uplift the less privileged.

“Our main goal is to create jobs and training to the disadvantaged people.  Basically what we do is to renew and remake old discarded wood and other materials.”

Organiser Mercia Marais said it was always a privilege to host artists, designers and musicians.

“This is a good place for families and the environment is friendly. We like to see people together on Sundaybecause that’s the best time for family get together.”
