Tannie Anna turns 100

Family celebrates tannie’s 100th birthday in style.

Blos Café was a place to be on Saturday when tannie Anna Maria Maritz celebrated her 100th birthday.

Tannie Anna from Queenswood was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Beside family, dozens of friends and neighbours also celebrated the milestone at Blos Café.

She has been staying at Huis Herfsblaar old age home since 1994. Her husband passed away in 1991.

Her granddaughter Michelle Scholtz said it was such a wonderful moment to have family and friends celebrate tannie Anna’s birthday.

She described her grandmother as someone who lives a healthy lifestyle.

“She’s always on the go and stays active.  At the age of 99, she knitted beautiful blankets for her youngest great grandchild,” Scholtz added.

Scholtz said one of the things she enjoys about her granny was her amazing stories and treasures from her memories.

Family friend Johan Jansen said he met tannie Anna in 1950.

“I’ve known her for at least 66 years and I can say she is an incredible woman. We are very close and I’ve had the opportunity get to know her children and grandchildren very well.”

Tannie Anna has four children, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
