Former SAFA CEO slapped with 5 year ban over match-fixing

Former SAFA CEO Leslie Sebibe banned by FIFA for five years for match fixing.

Former SA Football Association CEO Leslie Sedibe has been banned from football activities for five years, FIFA announced on Monday.

The body governing soccer, International Federation of Association Football said in a media statement that Sedibe was banned in relation to the 2010 World Cup match fixing.

It was also announced that the former CEO of SAFA was fined over R300 000.

Lindile Kika, Steve Goddard and Adeel Carelse were the other names mentioned that were also banned by the FIFA committee.

“In this regard, the adjudicatory chamber decided that the former official, Sedibe, had infringed art. 13 (General rules of conduct), art. 15 (loyalty), and art. 18 (duty of disclosure, cooperation and reporting) of the FIFA Code of Ethics and imposed a ban on him,” the statement read.
