Families arrived in droves at the National zoo

Families came in numbers to the National zoo in Tshwane to view an army of animals.

Families from all over came to the national zoological gardens on New Year’s Day for a day filled with fun, animals and lots of food.

And the animals didn’t disappoint showing off their majesty.

Hippos came out to play in the water, wild cats pranced around in their enclosure, with their eyes firmly locked onto visitors and monkeys could not help themselves showing off swinging skills.

A camel chewed on the grass slowly keeping a keen eye on passing visitors, and the king of the jungle, the lion made a retired to its sleeping quarters.

Families kicked their feet in camp chairs, with drinks in hand while some minded their meat on the braai stands.

Most children ran around without a care in the world but some appeared intimidated by the presence of wildcats close by.

All enjoyed a happy beginning to the new year.
