New park for Phillip Nel Park

Through the community standing together, the residents managed to finally get the park they have been asking for.

After a long struggle by residents to get a new park, the Tshwane metro has agreed to develop a park in Phillip Nel Park.

Residents had petitioned the metro and Ward 58 councillor Elma Nel said the work had already started.

“We are happy about the development of a park in the area. It is good how the residents from different parties came together to make the park possible,” said Nel.

Nel said the park was a R2 million project and would also create job opportunities.

“The park will have a braai facility and a rubberised playground for the children. The park will also be barricaded for the children’s safety.

“The development of the park was approved about two months ago. We thank Ward 58 business forum for standing strong for the community even if we are from different political parties,” emphasised Nel.

The area on which the park will be developed used to be a dumping ground, which was a major problem for residents.

The park will probably be complete by December.
