Your blood can save a life

Former Mr SA and friends donate blood with public to save lives. Former Mr SA, John Owens, inspired the public to donate blood.

A blood drive at the Cure day clinic in Erasmuskloof on Saturday was hosted by former Mr SA John Owens and The Sunflower Fund to create awareness about the importance of donating blood.

Current Mr SA Armand du Plessis and second runner up Morné Marais also joined Owens at the event by donating blood to the SA national blood service (SANBS), supporting the The Sunflower Fund charity.

“I am happy to be doing this. Donated blood will save someone’s life,” Owens said while donating.

The Cure day clinic regional marketing manager, Karin Lindeque, said they were happy to host the blood drive since the clinic identified with such initiatives to promote healthy living.

“We plan to host these kind of initiatives three or four times a year. We want to play our part, it is like paying it forward,” said Narissca Erasmus, marketing manager at Cure day clinic Erasmuskloof.

The donation location was packed with people who joined the blood drive and donated blood and supported The Sunflower Fund to save lives.
