Market rejuvenates Pretoria CBD

Market@theSheds is all about the rejuvenation of the CBD and local art, design, food and music and bringing people together.

Market@theSheds brings Pretoria residents together to enjoy great food, art and entertainment.

The market on Saturday, 25 July at the old Pretoria fire station in Pretoria Central, is a regular event on the last Saturday of each month from 11:00 until 18:00.

“The old fire station is very dear to Pretoria artists and advocates of the capital city. It is one of the most beautiful old buildings, with a lot of history and tremendous potential,” said Mareli Wassenaar, one of the organisers.

The market focuses on local art, design, food and music, fitting in well with the vision of the Tshwane arts hub, located on the premises.

“The spot is set to become a sought-after tourist attraction in the city. Despite the cold weather last month, June’s Market@theSheds was a wonderful event, showing once again that people love local and are keen to explore exciting ‘new’ city treasures,” Wassenaar said.

This Saturday cold weather again did not prevent the public from flocking to the market.

Bands that performed this Saturday included Afro G, Madison, DMDC, Bella Voce Africa and Fingerprint 5. They performed a variety of music including laid-back jazz, rock, African fusion jazz and even a touch of opera.

For local band performances, craft beer, bubbly, wine, tasty food and a fine selection of art, design and goods, visit Market@the Sheds, which is all about the rejuvenation of the CBD.
