Fun-filled day for furry friends

The SPCA's Mandela Day Wag-a-Walk saw wagging tails and smiling faces all round.

The SPCA recently held another successful Wag-a-Walk event, this time at the Jan Smuts Museum in Irene. It was an apt celebration of Mandela Day.

The aim of the event was to raise funds for the SPCA, as well as to educate owners and their dogs on health care while enjoying a fun day out.

The event began on Saturday morning at 07:30, with people registering for the 4km walk with their dogs. Dogs and their owners were entered into a lucky draw on the day.

Since the SPCA relies solely on sponsorships, donations and assistance from the public, receiving no funding from the government whatsoever, the event was an important fundraiser.

On a chilly but enjoyable Saturday morning, families brought their best furry friends out to enjoy the day.

Korky Levanon, manager of the Tshwane SPCA, said the day was filled with wagging tails and smiling animal lovers, and asked the public to support their Wag-a-Walk events.
