Harvest Festival cup runs over

The successes of the Harvest Festival @ Centurion have been shared with those who need it most.

Some hefty cheques were handed over at Leriba Hotel and Spa on Wednesday thanks to the incredible success of The Harvest Festival @ Centurion that was held at the venue from 1- 3 May.

They were made out to SANPARKS (R16 250), the Honorary Game Rangers (R16 250), Endangered Wildlife Trust (Project – United Against Rhino Poaching) (R12 500) and The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) (R3 585) totalling R48 585.

Leriba Hotel’s owner Peet du Preez said the organisations he chose to receive the money all represented issues that lay close to his heart. “We at Leriba are passionate about making a difference. Especially with issues like the fight against rhino poaching and cancer.”

SANPARKS spokesperson Gabrielle Venter was grateful for the donation. “The money we received will go directly towards our anti-rhino poaching operations across the country. We are calling on all corporates to become involved in the fight against rhino poaching.”

Voetspore host Johan Badenhorst said when he was approached by Du Preez to become involved with the Harvest Festival, it was a no-brainer. “With Voetspore we are very close to nature. To be involved with an event like this is important for us, so that we too can help fight for the issues that matter.”

The 2015 iteration of the Harvest Festival @ Centurion was a resounding success. Thousands of wine lovers from across Pretoria were treated to the best wine more than 40 estates had to offer. Visitors could also dine on some of the gourmet food that Leriba Hotel, one of the city’s most beautiful venues, is famous for. Interactive cooking demonstrations and exhibits by a host of fascinating companies and institutions ensured there was something for everyone.
