Easter comes early at Bramley Children’s Home

Children from the Bramley's Children Home were spoiled with Easter eggs and bunny masks for the Easter weekend.

Bramley Children’s Home in Nieuw Muckleneuk received loads of Easter gifts on Wednesday afternoon.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) group of Ward 59 surprised the children at Bramley with Easter baskets, bunny masks and a performance by the Tembisa Cultural Group.

The children were ecstatic and enjoyed every moment of the day. Manager Helena Willers, praised the community’s involvement.

“It really means a lot to these children when they feel special and all of the gifts we received for Easter, not just from the DA, but from the rest of the community as well, are really appreciated,” Willers said.

Chair of the group of Ward 59 Sarel Swanepoel said: “We aim to create a society in which every person is free, secure and equal, where everyone has the opportunity to improve the quality of their life and pursue their dreams regardless of race, age, gender and religion.”

He said this particularly applied to the youth of South Africa as the young people were the future of democracy.

“This is why the executive members of DA Ward 59 have directed their support to homes such as Bramley, who have been providing care for traumatised and abused children for the past 54 years.”

Bramley Children’s Home currently houses 48 children.

Swanepoel said: “The aim of Bramley Children’s Home is to provide a secure environment for these children, with the programme concentrating on therapy, family reunification and foster care placements, where necessary.”
