All night charity drive for Cansa

Cancer survivors motivate the public.

The Cancer Association of Association of South Africa (Cansa) hosted a fun filled all night team experience in honour of cancer survivors on Saturday.

Relay for Life was held at the Pretoria military sports club, Thaba Tshwane. It started at 18:00 on Saturday and ended at 06:00 on Sunday.

More than 200 cancer survivors attended with public participants taking part in the Relay of Life in teams 10 to 15 people, raising money for Cansa.

“The main aim of the event is to educate the public about cancer and providing hope and support to cancer survivors,” Anita Snyder from Cansa said.

The survivors also had the opportunity to tell attendees there was life after being diagnosed with cancer and that you can still live a normal life.

Cansa Tipuana Care Home in Pretoria had been named the beneficiary of proceeds from the event. The home cares for 29 cancer sufferers for a period of six weeks at a time, before the next intake follows.

Anyone who wants to find out more about about work done by Cansa may contact Anita Snyder on 012 329 3036.
