Pretoria hosts softball semi-finals

More than 380 people including players and spectators attended the Gauteng Softball Association semi-finals at Rietondale Park, Pretoria, on Saturday.

Softball teams from three Gauteng regions Tshwane, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni converged at Rietondale Park, Pretoria, on Saturday to participate in the Gauteng Softball Association semi-finals.

The whole day event saw 32 teams competing against each other. More than 380 people including players and spectators attended the event.

The teams were competing to book their space in the finals, scheduled to take place soon.

Tshwane Softball Association chairperson, André Wessels said they still needed more people, especially the youth, to join softball.

“We have a slow pitch league which is aimed at attracting more people including young stars to join softball,” Wessels said.

Slow pitch league is the junior league aimed at developing new players.

The players are then promoted to play in the senior league where the game is played at a high speed.

Both women and men are welcome to play.
