Lucky pensioner wins a car

77-year-old from Pretoria East wins a brand new car

Pensioner Suzie de Beer (77) from the east of Pretoria was one of the winners in the 2015 Meat World car giveaway promotion.

The competition is held at 11 different Meat World stores across the country and is part of their annual Win a car promotion. Ten contestants each stood a chance of wiining a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage at the Elardus Park store.

The finalists were already selected two months ago when each received a small black box. The boxes were handed out at random by Miss Teen Queen of the Universe 2014, Angelica Nortje. Inside each box was a keychain. Nine keychains were identical, but the tenth one was inscribed with the words, “Congratulations. You are the winner.”

Excited contestants ripped open their boxes and Suzie de Beer noticed the magic words on her keychain. It took her a few seconds to step forward, the realisation of the win yet to sink in and overcome with emotion.

“I am so happy. My husband was with me this morning, but he was having heart problems, so he went home. I can’t wait to show him my brand new car,” said an ecstatic De beer.

Meat World Elardus Park owner Frank Serrao said he was very happy for De Beer. “We are so happy that this Mitsubishi Mirage has gone to Mrs de Beer. We are already looking forward to next year’s competition where another lucky person will win a brand new car.”
