Chiefs star brings smiles to kids in Soshanguve

Kaizer Chiefs star, Itumeleng Khune visits kids at Ntsha Peu Primary School in Soshanguve.

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune brought smiles to pupils at Ntsha Peu Primary School in Soshanguve.

Khune took time off from training to give back to the Soshanguve community.

Khune was part of the BMW Group’s campaign to plough back into the community when they visited Ntsha Peu Primary School on Thursday.

He participated in a penalty shoot-out with the pupils.

Addressing the pupils, Khune told them discipline was key if they wanted to succeed in life.

“You need to take education seriously. Including myself, I am still learning even today,” he said.

Khune was part of an important delegation that included dignitaries such as the chairman of BMW Group South Africa and member of the management board for production at BMW AG, Harald Krüger (who was on a special visit from Germany to South Africa), and BMW South Africa’s managing director, Tim Abbott, as well as other members of the management board at this exciting event.

“This event forms part of BMW Group South Africa’s celebrations for the production of the one-millionth 3 Series Sedan at its Plant in Rosslyn,” said Abbot.

Krüger and Abbott led separate teams of Plant Rosslyn’s shop stewards and u.12 pupils of Ntsha-Peu Primary School in the play-off.

The teams were presented an opportunity to compete fiercely in their Bafana Bafana ‘home’ and ‘away’ shirts for the refurbishment of the school’s soccer field and a new computer lab, both sponsored by BMW Group South Africa.

“These children are the stars of tomorrow, the next Bafana or Banyana players, the next president or doctors of this country. I felt a deep urge to reach out, not because of what I do and who I am – but because I believe every person can make a difference, no matter how small.”

“If I put a smile on one child’s face today, then it means I have accomplished something wonderful,” said Khune.
