Funeral for drowned Mamelodi boys

Mamelodi boys who drowned at the Hartherly dumping site near Nellmaphius laid to rest on Saturday.

Tears and condolences filled Ikageng Hall this morning when Nxobile Mahlangu was laid to rest.

Mahlangu is one of the two young boys who had drowned at the Hatherly dumping site near Nellmapius last week Monday. The boys were supposedly swimming in dirty water at the dumping site.

Mahlangu (11) was laid to rest at Hatherly cemetery while his best friend Siyabonga Ntuli (6) was buried at Mamabolo cemetery in Limpopo.

Tshwane metro has supported the family through their time of bereavement. The MMC of Infrastructure, Councillor Eulanda Mabusela, Tshwane metro chief whip Jabulane Mabona and other deligates attended Mahlangu’s funeral.

“We are happy with the response we received from the Tshwane metro when they heard our call.

We are saddened by Nxobile’s loss but God is always there and cares more than anyone,” Pastor Kgwatle said.

Councillor Moses Pasha consoled the family with the bible scripture that says, “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I fear no evil.” He continued to console the family, “God said to us that we should let the children come to him as the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. Nxobile has gone to the father. Our heartfelt condolences to the family.”

Mahlangu is survived by his mother, father and younger brother.

In another burial Nthabiseng Ramoroka (8) was laid to rest today, also in Limpopo. She was shot dead by neighbour in Mamelodi last week when the man allegedly tried to shoot his wife.
