Police arrested after robbery

Four Tshwane metro police officers arrested for an alleged business robbery.

Four Tshwane metro police officers had been arrested on Sunday morning following their involvement in a business robbery on Saturday.

Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, spokesperson for the metro police, said the four officers, one constable and three sergeants, were stationed at Mamelodi police station.

The officers are all aged between 27 and 37.

“The four of them drove dressed in full uniform with a marked police vehicle to a business in Soshanguve Block T where they allegedly robbed a business,” he said.

He said eyewitnesses took down the registration number of the vehicle and informed the police. The officers allegedly robbed the business owner of R5 000 and airtime to the value of R2 500.

Police and metro police arrested the four officers in Mamelodi on Sunday morning.

“We waited for them to clock in on Sunday before we made the arrest,” Mahamba said.

He said the investigation is still on-going and the four officers will appear in court soon.
