Christmas service in Faerie Glen

A Christmas service recently held at the Faerie Glen NG Church.

The Faerie Glen NG Church recently held a Christmas service where the congregation could experience an extraordinary celebration.

Led by the church’s organist Marina Mentz, and with the church transformed into a magical white Christmas world, the music of the evening altered from deep to light-hearted.

Those present were entertained by the congregation choir of Wilma Davel, instrumentalist Bambi Heiberg and soprano Liezl Smith, before a reading from the Bible and various poems.

Eleine Roets, spokesperson for the Faerie Glen NG Church, said the evening also featured two pre-primary children groups who each brought a unique treat to the evening’s events.

“One of the group of youngsters enthusiastically sang a couple of songs, while the other group entertained guests with recorders and percussion instruments,” Roets said.

Songs played during the evening’s proceedings included Koos du Plessis‘s Somerkersfees, I’ll be home for Christmas and Leonard Cohen‘s Hallelujah.

“Everyone enjoyed the evening so much that the guests were singing the songs with the performers throughout the concert. It was a memorable evening for both young and old,” Roets said.
