Lights festival attracts thousands of people

Residents are invited to go see the lights at the Jacaranda Child and Family Care Centre.

Residents are visiting the Jacaranda Child and Family Care Centre in big numbers to enjoy the Christmas Lights Festival since it started last Monday.

On Saturday, more than 5 000 people had already visited the centre since it started.

More people are expected to visit the centre as the event is scheduled to end on 27 December.

Jacaranda Child and Family Care Centre Marketing and fundraising project manager Christo Louw said the main purpose of the event is to convey the real Christmas message to the public and to the children at the children’s home.

“We want to tell people that we are educating our children at the children’s home and bring them up from a gospel stand point and that Christmas is not about giving gifts and commercialising it,” Louw said.

The whole children’s home is decorated with lights that attract residents to the centre.
