Dog lovers enjoy a Pit Bull Awareness Walk

Pitbulls are vicious dogs, but good companions.

Michael Costa from Big Dogz Kennels held the first ever Pit bull awareness walk on Sunday.

The purpose of the event was to save the pitbull breed.

The 2km awareness walk started at Rietondale Park and ended at Clapham High School.

The daughter of Michael Costa, Savanna Costa said: “Pit bulls are very good pets and we want to save the breed. There are many people out there who want a pit bull for all the wrong reasons, they want them for fighting but that is against the law,” said Savanna.

“The awareness walk is to show people that pit bulls are not only fighting dogs, but good companions and are men’s best friends,” Savanna.

She also stressed that even though the turnout was low, they are planning to have another awareness walk early next year.

The event was attended by more than forty pit bull lovers.
