Cooking up Christmas delights

Guests at Hirsch’s Sliver Lakes prepare delicious Christmas food.

Hirsch’s Silver Lakes held its Christmas lunch cooking demo on Friday evening, with Hirsch’s national events manager and ‘chef-on-the-go’ Warren Pearce.

Guests at the demo were taught how to make fresh fruit mince pies, as well as a mouth-watering beef wellington.

“These recipes are really easy to make and are delicious. Lots of people don’t like fruit mince pies, but when they try this one, they love it,” said Pearce.

On the night, the guests could ask their host anything about his recipes and could also participate in making the recipes, giving them an edge when trying to make it for themselves.

“The beef wellington is really delicious,” said Bernard Griesel, one of the guests.

Three guests were chosen to create a Christmas carol and to perform it for the other guests. The winner, Francois Marais, won a Snappy Chef induction hob that he could use to prepare the filling for the beef wellington recipe.
