Picnic attracts business

Several small businessmen from across Pretoria and Gauteng converged at the CSIR Sports and Recreation Club in Pretoria for the "Start-up Business Picnic".

Small businessmen from across Pretoria and Gauteng recently gathered at the CSIR sports and recreation club in Pretoria for the Start-up Business Picnic. The event was also attended by established businessmen.

It was intended to be a fun day for entrepreneurs from various fields to share business ideas and exchange contacts.

The guest speaker was the ACM Gold chief executive Irfan Pardes, who spoke about his business worth about US450 million today.

Lunga Ncala, one of the event organisers, said: “This was was a cool networking session for business. We are happy it was a success.”

Bustia Madiba, the founder of Gushima Lifestyle Café, said he had learnt a lot. “It was an inspiring event, especially for connecting small business owners with those who have been in the game for a while.”

Puseletso Modimogale, a business mentor from The Hope Factory, said: “Gatherings like this helps a lot in marketing the entrepreneurs. Our aim is to get entrepreneurs who have a turnover of R250 000 a year and we help market and mentor them.”

Start-up Business was founded by Tiisetso Maloma, an avid entrepreneur and an author.
