A host of people from Elandspoort, Danville and across Pretoria West were all smiles as they were handed Christmas presents at the Hanna charity and empowerment foundation event at the weekend. It took place in an open park in Long Tom and Projektiel Avenue in Pretoria West on Saturday afternoon.
Thousands of poor and previously disadvantaged people received clothes, pancakes, soup and food parcels. Children were also given an opportunity to rub shoulders with Santa Claus who shared jokes with them.
Event spokesperson Jenny Griesel said this year’s event was enjoyed by people from various areas across Pretoria. “This was a very successful event. We had several people donating and some musicians entertained the residents.”
Resident Louisa Venter, who received clothes and various gifts, said she wished the event could be extended to other parts of the country as well. “It was very nice for me to be here. As long as I see my kids smile I am happy. It was truly a good day.”
