Primary school holds charity event for needy

Laerskool Boerefort held a charity ladies tea for needy children.

Laerskool Boerefort in Wonderboom South held a charity ladies tea at the school on Saturday, where guests brought Christmas presents for needy children at the school.

According to Cathy Meintjes, who organised the event, the school sent out a letter asking parents for donations to help needy children at the school to buy their concert costumes.

“I thought, if these families are struggling to buy costumes, how will their Christmas be? So I decided to hold a charity ladies tea and donate the toys given by the guests to these children at the annual Christmas party,” Meintjes said.

Each guest brought a wrapped toy and enjoyed a morning filled with fun and entertainment at the school.

“We will use any money left over for other necessities and would like to make this an annual event in the future,” Meintjes said.

Country singer Zandré entertained the 70 guests who attended the event.

“I am blessed to be a part of today’s charity event. Giving back to the community is so important, especially when it comes to the children,” Zandré said.
