Cupcakes of Hope holds third fundraising event

Shopping malls raise money for children affected with cancer.

With September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Cupcakes of Hope held its third annual moneyraising event for the National Cupcake Day on 27 September.

The theme for this year’s event was The sweetest way to save a life.

The National Cupcake day was celebrated across the country in 55 malls.

Kolonade Retail Park, Pick ‘n Pay was one of the 55 malls across the country to host and raise money for children affected with cancer.

Ina Kotze, Centre manager of Kolonnade Retail Park, Pick n Pay said: “Volunteers from Imagine sold 3D Cupcakes for R10 each to raise money next to the entrance to Wimpy Courts, Kolonnade Retail Park from 07:30.

“Cupcakes of Hope is a community-driven project with the aim to create awareness and raise money for children with life-threatening diseases.

More than 200 patients have been assisted with medical and day-to-day expenses thus far.

Donations to charities include CANSA, The Sunflower Foundation, CHOC, Children Cancer Foundation for South Africa and the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust,” said Kotze.
