Fourth Cansa Relay for Life held in Irene
The fourth Cansa Relay for Life event was recently held in Centurion.
The Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) hosted their fourth Relay for Life Corporate event at Denel’s Irene Campus Corporate Office from Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning.
This Relay for Life was a fun-filled, overnight event, where corporate teams took turns walking a track from 16:00 on Saturday until 06:00 on Sunday.
According to Elise Fourie, chairperson of the volunteer organising committee, the theme for 2014 was The Sky is NOT the limit.
“This theme allowed teams to be creative, imagining a world without cancer, by showing support for work colleagues living with cancer,” Fourie said.
With live entertainment, colourful costumes and more, not even the chilly weather could dampen the spirits of contestants.
The event also included health education activities and a Survivors Lap, where all the cancer survivors took to the track for a victorious, celebratory lap.
All money raised will be allocated to Cansa’s unique integrated service to the public and all people affected by cancer.
