Women’s walk for breast cancer awareness

The Pick n Pay Women's Walk Pretoria recently took place at the LC de Villiers Sport Campus in Hatfield.

The LC de Villiers Sport Campus of the University of Pretoria hosted the Pick n Pay Women’s Walk in Hatfield on Saturday.

The aim of the 5km walk was to raise money to provide free breast cancer screenings for women and this service is also always available at the end of every Women’s Walk.

The walk wasn’t timed, which provided ample time for people to raise awareness around breast cancer as well as get to know each other.

Contestants were spoiled with goodie bags filled with products, a free medal at the end of the race and delicious smoothies from Futurelife to sample.

The PinkDrive, who is always present on walk days, currently owns two ‘Pink’ mobile breast check units (one in Gauteng and one in the Western Cape), which travel to semi-urban areas to enable targeted disadvantaged communities to gain access to clinical breast examinations and breast health education performed by professional nurses.
