Tennis Club open day made residents smile

Tennis players from the Moot area had the opportunity to learn more about tennis.

The Rietondale Tennis Club held an open day for residents of the Moot and surrounding areas on Saturday.

The event was held at the club’s premises and started at 10:00 and ended in the afternoon.

Other activities were an exhibition match and mini-tennis for children.

Duane Steyn from the Rietondale Tennis Club said: “The children had the opportunity to meet the coaches for the day and were taught the basics of playing tennis.”

“The players had the opportunity to measure their tennis serving speeds and amongst them was the legendary player, Grant Ferreira, who recorded a serving speed of 155,8km/h.”

Patrick Selepe, SA wheelchair tennis’ top three player, also held a coaching clinic. Mamelodi Tennis Club, Rhoara and Run/Walk for Life also attended.

Other activities of the day were lucky draw whereby the winners walked away with prizes and also had braai for the day.
