Community plants vegetable garden and spoils elderly

Organisations joined forces on Saturday to erect a vegetable garden and to spoil the elderly at Uncle Ben’s Den.

To restore the honour and dignity of the elderly, Fulami and Mustard seeds along with the Department of Agriculture came together on Saturday at Uncle Ben’s Den in Hermanstad.

Uncle Ben’s Den caters for the elderly and provides shelter to homeless people.

CJ and Anne-Marie van Zyl from Fulami, a ministry that looks after the needy elderly, organised a day of ministering and pampering the residents. The organisation also launched another project called ‘adopt a granny’ in old age homes around Pretoria. Mustard seeds and SE solutions played a major role in starting a vegetable garden and to erect a fence around it. The Department of Agriculture provided the compost for the garden and also helped with the planting of the seeds. The residents were very happy and enjoyed a day well spent.
