International Cuisine cooking in Pretoria

Ҫa Ira Wellness Retreat recently held one of their famed Intercultural Cuisine evenings and the theme did not disappoint.

Some very fortunate women recently got the chance to participate in one of Ҫa Ira Wellness Retreat’s Intercultural Cuisine evenings.

The cuisine for Friday night’s evening was Portugese and roughly 30 people participated in following a specific recipe and making their own Portugese meals, under the watchful eyes of the evening’s Portugese cooking teacher, Luisa Tavares.

According to Mary Seeber, the owner of Ҫa Ira Wellness Retreat, the retreat hosts several Intercultural Cuisine evenings a year, each with its own theme and a spesific cook.

“I love these evenings as I aim to break down barriers between people. These evenings allow people from across Pretoria, from various cultural backgrounds, to interact and do something fun – cook – together. If there is more love in the world, there will definitely be less hate and I believe that allowing people to get to know each other at fun events like these, will definitely bring us all closer together,” Seeber said.

The general emotion of the evening’s event seemed to be that of excitement.

One of the guests, Wendy Jacobs, brought along several friends to the event.

“I was at one of the previous evenings’ Intercultural Cuisine events, with a Lebanese theme and I enjoyed it so much that I just had to come to this one as well. I love the idea of preparing food myself and learning to create dishes from different cultures is so exciting,” Jacobs said.

For another guest, Jessica van Putten, this was the first time she attended one of Ҫa Ira Wellness Retreat’s Intercultural Cuisine evenings.

“I am looking forward to the evening and I am excited to be trying something different. I think its going to be a fun thing to do,” Van Putten said.
