People enjoy whisky in style

The world’s most awarded Scotch whisky, Glenfiddich, hosted the first 2014 exclusive Groove Lounge event at Jack Buddha in Mamelodi on Friday.

National Glenfiddich brand ambassador, Thami Banda, encouraged people to drink responsibly.

Banda made the call at the first 2014 exclusive Groove Lounge event hosted by his brand at Jack Buddha in Mamelodi on Friday.

He said Glenfiddich subscribed to responsible drinking.

Banda said they appreciate the art behind whisky’s texture rather than only drinking it.

“An appreciator is the person who enjoys the vibe and the texture of the whisky and know when to stop,” Banda said.

The event, hosted by the word’s most awarded Scotch whisky, Glenfiddich, was part of 20 occasions to take place all over the country this year to celebrate the whisky label’s 124 years birthday last year.

It offered more than 80 people of Mamelodi an opportunity to enjoy tasting various Glenfiddich whiskies, eating delicious food and listening to neo-soul sounds, provided by DJ Kenzhero.

Banda also shared his personal experience on how to drink whisky.

He said there were actually no rules on how one should enjoy whisky.

Banda personally prefers a dash of water with his whisky.

“Water open up textures and flavours of whisky, while ice keep them frozen, making one only picking up the alcohol,” he said.

People in attendance also had an opportunity to win fabulous prizes.
