A group of young girls at the Jakaranda Children’s Home were spoiled on Saturday when the Miss Centurion School winners gave them each a handmade handbag.

The 45 Miss Centurion School finalists who were chosen in April had to participate in a charity project of which one included the making of handbags. They used interesting materials such as feathers to decorate the handbags, in mainly pink – every girl’s colour.

Bridget Molatlhegi (14) , Tanielle de Silva (12) and Minet Coetzee (10) were the proud ambassadors who handed out the handbags, making every girl in the house feel like a princess.

Miss Centurion School is a beauty pageant aimed at ploughing back in the community. Each year girls in different age groups and from different schools, not only have the chance to wear a crown, but to make a difference in other people’s lives.

Yolandi Rossouw, organiser of Miss Centurion Schools, said that next year’s event would be much bigger as it is their 10th anniversary.
