South African Music Institute (SAMI) celebrated their 10 years anniversary when they showcased the skills of their produced students during the event at Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria on Saturday morning.

The event was attended by many students from the institute and several local famous Rock and Blues musicians. Several guitarists showcased their talents on stage during the event that attracted a host of residents during the chilly Saturday morning. The famous blues and rock musician, Jesse Preto and her band also entertained the audience during the event that lasted for the better part of the day.

Annelize Pansegrouw, a keyboard lecturer at the institute told Record that the event was organised to celebrate the institute’s talent. “We are here to celebrate 10 years anniversary since the establishment of SAMI in 2004.

Many of the guitarists who were here are professionals and students. Our aim is also to expose our students who have gained skills of composing and also playing the blues and rock music,” she said. Pansegrouw stated the show was intended to reminisce the work that the institute has done in the past ten years.
