Easter-concert for the love of music

The Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra performed an Easter concert over the weekend at the Brooklyn Theatre.

The Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra (GPO) gave another outstanding performance at the Brooklyn Theatre in Menlo Park over the weekend.

In the spirit of Easter, William Vogel compiled an exceptional concert to complement instrumental music with vocal music.

Soloists Ilze Coetzee (soprano), Teresa de Wit (mezzo), Aron Mahlohla (tenor) and Barend van der Westerhuizen (baritone) also made their appearances.

The Brooklyn Theatre has become the home of the GPO since the beginning of the year and is managed by Salon Music. After spending 19 years staging classical concerts, promoting classical music and creating work for classical musicians, it was the next logical step forward for Salon Music to be the founder of this symphonic orchestra in Pretoria.

This orchestra will fill the hearts of classical music lovers, especially since the closure of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra. This orchestra stages two performances a month.

As it is a non-profit organization, the tickets sales form the basis of the orchestra’s income.

The GPO’s next performance will be on 9 and 11 May.
