GALLERY: Magical ice wonderland enchants Pretoria audience

Magical princesses visited Pretoria for the first time this year when Disney on Ice skated into town for a fairy tale showcase.

Old and young came from all over town at the weekend to see a magical wonderland as Disney on Ice showcased in Pretoria for the very first time.

A stampede of little eager toddlers and teens queued at the entrance at the Time Square Arena to get to their seats to see their favourite princesses.

The show was opened by the beloved Micky and Minnie Mouse and friends such as Donald Duck, Goofy and more with electric dance routines on the ice rink.

The atmosphere was electric with all-time favourite songs from the different Disney movies, breath-taking dance and skate moves and the colourful lights and realistic props.

First the audience went on an adventure under the sea with the classical Little Mermaid tale with princess Ariel, Sebastian the talking crab, Flounder the talking fish and, of course, the evil sea witch Ursula.

This was followed by the enchanting tale of Rapunzel, which saw the venue being turned into a wonderland again as the short story ended off the arena was lit up with a beautiful display of lanterns.

Tears flowed as the show took a short break and the little ones eagerly awaited the rest of the princesses to make their appearance.

Next followed the story of princess Belle with the Disney classic, Beauty and the Beast.

The audience sat on the edges as their seats as the Beast fought egotistic Prince Adam who tried to come between him and his true love Belle.

Finally it was time for grand finale as Elsa from the hit movie Frozen took to the stage.

The audience cheered and clapped as their favourite characters – Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Sven, Kristoff and Hans – took to the ice in the frozen extravaganza.

By the time Elsa sang Let it Go the entire audience were singing along at the top of their lungs.

The tale came to life with snow, spectacular lights and show-stopping performances, which kept the audience wanting more.
