GALLERY: SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane 2019 officially open for entries

The most exciting race of the year is taking place on 3 August at SuperSport Park.

Boasting a new look and a new name, the 2019 SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane was officially launched on 9 May in the east of Pretoria.

Entries are now open.

Key partners, sponsors, celebrities, top runners and the media all joined the race organising team at Sun Arena, Time Square for the official launch.

“We are so excited to be opening entries to the 25 000 ladies from across the region who join us to take part in the race every year – and to be unveiling the big changes that the race has undergone,” said SPAR North Rand marketing executive Charleen Goschen.

The race’s title has now changed from ‘SPAR Women’s Challenge Pretoria’ to the ‘SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane’.

“This new title better reflects the ladies who come from across the region to take part. It also shows how the race territory has grown over the years.”

The 2019 theme is ‘Yes I Am.’

“This theme asks the women of Tshwane to take a closer look at how they define themselves; as a mother, a sister, a friend – or all of these?”

“Are you strong, kind, bold, humble – or just yourself? This year the race is celebrating women in a whole new way. This theme is about embracing everything that you are and walking proudly side by side with women from your community on race day,” Charleen enthuses.

“#YesIAm challenges you to look at how you define yourself, fairly and without judgment. It’s about being yourself on your own terms.”

Entries are now officially open for the 2019 Tshwane Leg of the SPAR Women’s Challenge, the biggest and most popular race in the SPAR Women’s Challenge Grand Prix series. The race takes place at 14:00 on Saturday 3 August at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

As always, the race will offer women from all walks of life, and all levels of fitness the opportunity to take part in a 5km or a 10km race. Taking the large number of participants into account, separate starting points for each route will ensure a seamless experience for everyone.

Admission is R120 per person, for all licensed 10km entrants, R160 for all non-licensed 10km entrants and R120 for the 5km fun run/walk entrants.

There are two ways to enter the race. Entry forms are available at participating SPAR and sports stores where you immediately pay for your entry. You will be getting your race pack – containing your race number, one-size-fits-all t-shirt, foam peak, and a copy of My Race magazine – right away.

A list of participating stores is available on www.sparladiestshwane.co.za.

You can also enter online at www.sparladiestshwane.co.za.

Entrants can follow the online steps (admin fee applies) and then they can collect their race pack at SuperSport Park Stadium in Centurion from 29 July – 2 August between 10:00 and 18:00. Regrettably, collection is not available in-store for online entries.

In-store pre-entries will close on 21 July at 20:00, but available at SuperSport Park from 29 July to 2 August between 10:00 and 18:00 or until sold out. Entries will be limited to 25 000 so enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
