All learners were allocated to their designated seats when they arrived, with emotional parents having the opportunity to take pictures and kiss their little ones goodbye.

Just a week ago, we were celebrating with the matriculants in Mamelodi for producing great results for 2018.

On Wednesday morning, the Grade 1 learners in Mamelodi celebrated their first day at school. Accompanied by their parents, the Grade 1 learners of Boikhantsho Primary School in Mamelodi East could not wait to get into their new classrooms.

The smiles were infectious as the little ones and their parents made their way to their classrooms to prepare for their first day of “big school”.

The parents took pictures with their children after they accompanied them to their new classes and meeting their new teachers.

Many Grade 1 learners told Rekord that they were excited to make new friends, play on the playground during recess and learn from their teachers.

All learners were allocated to their designated seats when they arrived, with emotional parents having the opportunity to take pictures and kiss their little ones goodbye.

Excited parents said they were happy for their children and, most importantly, no one cried on their first day at school. Here are the views of the new Grade 1 learners on their first day at school:
