GALLERY: Christmas arrives early for the elderly in Danville

Jump Charity Foundation brought them goodie bags and cooked for them in style in a potjiekos competition.

The Jump Charity Foundation pampered the elderly at Van Rensburg Old Age Home in Danville on Saturday.

They brought them goodie bags and cooked for them in style in a potjiekos competition.

Founder of the foundation Cornemarie Schoonraad said this year they decided to do something for the elderly.

“We usually focus on children, so this year we decide to focus on the old people and show then (sic) some love,” she said.

Manager at the home Ezette Henneke said they were grateful for everything the charity foundation had done.

“It is a good thing that they are doing. It is always nice when the elderly get different food while listening to some music. The entertainment was a good idea because it gets boring sometimes at an old age home,” she said.

If there was a dancing competition tannie Anna van Deventer would have walked away a winner.

“I enjoy music and I can dance,” she said dancing in her wheelchair.

The home caters for 100 residents, 85 women and 15 men.

Henneke said any help, whether in the form of funds, food, toiletries or adult nappies, was welcome.
