GALLERY: Info session for Pta entrepreneurs

“We had a panel of experts and clients that discussed entrepreneurship, marketing and pitfalls in the entrepreneurial field."

The Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) hosted an annual entrepreneurship day in the Pretoria CDB on Thursday.

The event coincided with national global entrepreneurship week.

“We had a panel of experts and clients that discussed entrepreneurship, marketing and pitfalls in the entrepreneurial field,” said Tshwane Seda branch manager Caren Coetzee.

Various speakers taught the attendees to understand their business and legalities such as lease agreements and rent.

Attendees were also told that they needed to understand what they could do in their rented space for a business to flourish.

Coetzee said that in Tshwane, Seda had been hosting the event annually for six years now.

She said they had been fortunate to have an active partner with the City of Tshwane and City Properties, who had sponsored the venue.

Fentse Mokale, who runs her own business, said she had received a lot of sound entrepreneurial advice from the speakers who have been in the business for years.

Mokale’s business sells items such as neckpieces, earrings, head wraps and literature.

She said she would heed the advice given on good marketing strategies and building relationships in business.

Mokale said the mistake most entrepreneurs did was to collect contact numbers of vital possible business opportunities and never follow up on them.

She said entrepreneurs had to note that following up with contacts made could potentially grow their businesses through collaborations with other businesses.
