GALLERY: Joyous Celebration wows fans at Sun Arena

Hundreds of fans packed the arena to the rafters to witness – MTN Joyous Celebration 22 – the Special featuring guest appearances by fans’ all-time favourite members.

The popular gospel ensemble MTN Joyous Celebration did not disappoint when they performed at the Sun Arena Time Square at Menlyn Maine on Saturday night.

Hundreds of fans packed the arena to the rafters to witness – MTN Joyous Celebration 22 – the Special featuring guest appearances by fans’ all-time favourite members.

The group lived up to expectations delivering one of the most memorable performances in its history.

The group’s co-founder Lindelani Mkhize said the spiritual leaders were enlisted as part of the “Special” to offer thanksgiving for the extended Joyous family as a whole.

Pastor Jabu Hlongwane, founder and member of MTN Joyous Celebration, said the support for the group as it traversed the country was humbling.

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to return to Pretoria after all these years.

“We promise our fans an unforgettable music experience.”

The MTN Joyous Celebration 22 project and tour has been a remarkable journey and success.

The collective became the first South African Gospel Ensemble to win four SAMAs in the same year in the categories Best-Selling DVD of the Year, Best-Selling Album of the Year, CAPASSO Best-Selling Digital Download Composer’s Award and Best-Selling Digital Artist of the Year all for Joyous Celebration Volume 21: Heal Our Land album.

They’ve also sold out shows throughout their national tour for the MTN Joyous 22 ‘All for You’ offering.

“We are in awe at how the grace of God is always with us,” says Pastor Hlongwane.

“The support has been humbling and astounding. We are grateful for the love our fans have given us which has carried us from city to city as we performed throughout the length and breadth of the country and beyond this year. We are thrilled for the opportunity to return to Pretoria after all these years and promise our fans an unforgettable music experience.”

Mapula Bodibe, Executive for Consumer Business at MTN, elaborates that “MTN has had the privilege of continuously supporting and showcasing one of the biggest music genres in South Africa owing to MTN Joyous Celebration and the ensemble’s massive following and success”.

“Because of this, we are constantly inspired to actively look for exciting ways to amplify existing and exclusive experiences for our customers and this year has been no different,” Bodibe adds.
