Classy ladies with hearts of gold came together with the aim of giving back to those who need help most.
More than 800 women from different denominations attended the 16th ladies’ high tea fundraiser at the St Mary’s Diocesan School for Girls in Brooklyn on Saturday.
The event is the brainchild of the Reformed Church Kameeldrift which started its own outreach to orphanages and the less privileged years ago.
“We later sent out letters to other churches and asked if they would like to join us and that is how it grew this big,” said event organiser Susan Fourie.
She said all the funds raised would go to orphanage President Kruger Kinderhuis in Reddesburg, Free State and Pretoria.
During the function, she handed over a cheque to the head of the Reddesburg President Kruger kinderhuis Danie Noeth.
Joseph Clark and Jannie Moolmam entertained the audience with their soulful and melodic voices under the theme “Deur die oë van ‘n kind”, through the eyes of a child.
Elsabe Daneel was guest speaker for the day.
