East market a perfect family day out

The market has everything from paintball to mountain bike routes.

The Cowhouse Market in Hazeldean Valley is a perfect outing for the whole family – pets included.

It has been around for three years and is already a household name; the founders have labelled it Pretoria’s best gourmet food and craft market.

The market is held every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00-16:00 and is perfect for any weather conditions.

The Cowhouse Market is the brainchild of James Waugh, William Waugh and Louis Venter.

“We are the largest restaurant in Pretoria with a variety of offerings from our various stalls,” said James.

He said they also encourage a healthy lifestyle through their “My run”, which happens every Sunday morning from 08:00.

“People participate in a 5km walk or run and the winner earns Discovery points,” he said.

The market also boasts running, walking and mountain bike trails.

There are also large play areas for children where they can go on pony rides, do zip lining and practice paintball target shooting.

James said they are planning to have a drive-in theatre soon.

“We host a lot of events and music festivals and we invite the public to come join us,” he said.

Entrance, parking and entertainment are free.

Every last Saturday of the month the market starts at 10:00 until 22:00.
