Fun-filled Lotus Gardens sports day
"Sporting activities keep children fit and busy while promoting an active healthy lifestyle."
An anti-drug non-profit organisation hosted a fun sports day at Lotus Gardens on Saturday to commemorate Youth Day.
The event was hosted by the Sithuthukisa Bonke crisis centre (SBCC).
The activity-filled day held kicked off with a fun walk and run.
Other activities included netball, soccer and aerobics.

“The purpose of this event is to remember the power of the youth that fought for all South Africans,” said SBCC founder Abel Phega.
“We want to celebrate their bravery to defend their right to equal education and also to commemorate those who lost their lives in the struggle against apartheid.”

SBCC is a non-profit organisation founded in 2008. It wants to eradicate substance abuse, especially in schools through support groups, rehabilitation referrals, awareness campaigns and outreach programmes.
Participant Kamogelo Mankga said the sporting activities kept children fit and busy while promoting an active healthy lifestyle.
