SAAF museum air show 2018 a hit

This year’s show was held under the theme ‘our indomitable spirit’

This year’s SAAF museum air show at the air force base at Swartkop on Saturday proved to be a huge hit with both adults and children.

“It is our second time here, my daughter is a huge fan of the show, she adores planes,” attendee Rabelani Tambani told Rekord.

Some drove from as far as North West and Bloemfontein to attend this annual event.

This year’s show was held under the theme “our indomitable spirit”, which encapsulates “the remarkable journey of an institution that has earned its place as an air force that inspires confidence”, said the organisers.

Through this air show, the SAAF aims to create awareness of the exciting world of both military and civil aviation.

Another fan Hugo Kriel said he and his family never miss the air show.

“We love it here, the airplanes, the sound and the smells,” he said.

“The atmosphere here is great for children to have fun.”

The show also catered to pupils who might consider a career in the force.

“The career expo aims to create awareness of available careers in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related sectors, including the aerospace and defence industries,” the SAAF said.
