GALLERY: Hatfield churches celebrate Palms Sunday together

Nothing says unity like churches with diverse traditions and colours coming together.

St. Wilfrid’s Anglican Church, Elim Full Gospel Church, NG Univeriteitsoord and NHK Philadelphia had a joint Palm Sunday procession in Hatfield on Sunday.

Palm Sunday is a Christian feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter to mark the beginning of the holy week.

The feast commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

Congregants gathered at the corner of Herhold and Lynnwood roads on Sunday and worshipped together before going to their respective churches singing songs of worship.

“The four churches have been working together since 2016. We have a good relationship with each other,” said Reverend Jana de Lange.

Dr Johan Pienaar said it was wonderful and showed that they prayed to one God irrespective of different traditions and skin colour.
