GALLERY: Teko Modise’s book signing attracts many in east

The book titled "The Curse of Teko Modise" was launched on November 29, 2017.

Popular Cape Town City and Bafana Bafana player Teko Modise attracted soccer fanatics and book lovers during his book signing on Saturday.

The event was held at Exclusive Books, Menlyn Mall.

Pretorians came out in numbers to have their books signed by the celebrated former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder while enjoying taking selfies with the star.

The book titled “The Curse of Teko Modise” was launched on 29 November 2017.

The tell-all book details some of the most dramatic moments in his life and gives readers a glimpse of aspects of Modise’s journey that they never knew about.

The memoir was authored by journalist Nikolaos Kirkinis and published by Jacana Media.

Talking about his relationship with his former coach Pitso Mosimane, Modise said the fact that he wrote in his book that they used to fight a lot did not mean they hated each other.

“I believe that he is one of the best coaches in South Africa and I wish him well,” he said.

In the book, he also talks about his failed marriage to his ex-wife Felicia.

“Although things did not work out, she is the mother of my daughter,” Modise told Rekord.

The book made headlines for detailing how his former soccer team, Orlando Pirates used to perform muti rituals.

Modise played for Pirates from 2007 to 2011.

Isaac Kamya said the book was an interesting read and would recommend it to anyone who has not read it yet.

“I like the fact that he talks about where he started and all.”

Young aspiring soccer players also got a chance to take selfies with Modise.

A Grade 1 learner at Kingdom Preparatory School Thulani Twala (6) plays for his school team and enjoys soccer a lot, his wish is to be a well-known soccer star one day.
