The department said the community had been involved in the planning, implementation and ongoing management of the facility.
The school is a sound, safe and environmentally friendly facility with the employment of the latest green building practices, and acts as a resource centre for the district.

The school includes facilities that would change the township’s socio-economic landscape:
– It caters for 1 200 learners from Grade 8 to 12
– 1 422 locals were employed during construction
– 2 110 people were employed during construction
– At least 31 subcontractors employed
Its list of state-of-the-art technology includes:
– Smart classrooms

– CCTV camera system
– Intruder alarm system
– Roof and wall insulation to reduce energy loss and noise
